Why Splashyland

More than swimming lessons.

A child who is at ease in the water carries that everywhere. Learning to swim is a life skill first, and everything else follows from it.

  • Safety before technique

Every swimmer begins by learning to be safe and unafraid in the water. Strokes come later, and they come more easily.

  • Confidence they keep

The first time a child puts their head under the water, they learn something much bigger than swimming.

  • Their own pace

Small groups and individual attention, so no child is rushed and no child is left behind.

Swimming Lessons

Once a swimmer is safe in the water we build technique: freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke and butterfly, plus aquatic ballet and lifesaving skills.

Every swimmer

Every child deserves the chance to feel at home in the water.

Families have come to Splashyland after being turned away somewhere else. Sandra has experience teaching children on the autism spectrum and children with Down syndrome, and the approach is the same one that guides every lesson here: meet the child where they are, move at their pace, and never push past trust.

That can mean spending a whole lesson getting comfortable at the edge of the pool. It can mean starting again on a difficult day. What it never means is a child being treated as a category rather than a swimmer.

Meet Sandra

Thirty years of teaching children to trust the water.

Swimming has been Sandra Paredes' life for more than 30 years. She is a certified lifeguard and a former member of the YWCA (ACF) in Mexico, and she has spent those decades doing one thing: helping children who are frightened of the water discover that they are safe in it.

Today she teaches alongside the two people she taught first. Her daughter Paulina and her son Rama both learned to swim from their mother, and both now coach beside her. Parents notice it in the first lesson: this is a family that teaches the way a family teaches.

Parent stories

What parents notice isn't only better swimming.

These are the words of families who trusted us with their children.

For more than four months I looked for someone with the patience and the dedication to give swimming lessons to my little boy with autism, and I had no success, because no instructor felt prepared for this kind of lesson. Fortunately I found Sandra and her daughter, and in only four lessons, through their effort, patience and affection, they got my little one to put his head under the water and lose his fear of it.

Sandra and Paulina are very professional and they have helped my children learn to swim. The progress they made in only two summers has been excellent. When the youngest started his lessons they helped him overcome his fear of going under the water, and the older one has kept improving his technique. They have a fun way of teaching and the right technique for each child's needs.

Where lessons happen

Your pool or ours.

One of the simplest reasons families stay with us: the lesson can come to the place your child already feels safe.

How it works

Starting is simple.

01

Tell us about your swimmer

02

Choose the lesson that fits

We will talk through the right program, group or private, at your pool or ours.

03

Get in the water

Lessons are 30 minutes. We start exactly where your swimmer is, and build from there.

Water safety

Learning to swim saves lives.

Confidence in the water is one of the most valuable things you can give a child. It stays with them at the neighbourhood pool, on holiday, at a friend's birthday party, and for the rest of their life.

That is why every Splashyland swimmer, whatever their age, begins with survival and comfort in the water before anyone talks about technique.
